Mary Ann Bridgwater's Biography

Mary Ann Bridgwater loves the Lord and has been actively fulfilling a call to prayer ministry for more then 20 years. She is founder and director of Pray the Word Ministries. In 1995 she co-founded an intercessory prayer ministry known as Promise Reapers, Inc, and served as a personal intercessory for Bill McCartney, founder of Promise Keepers.

Mary Ann and Roger, her husband (married in 1975) joined Houston’s First Baptist Church in 1979. Mary Ann and Roger have been and are still active in areas of leadership with Mary Ann having served in capacities such as Prayer Chair of the HFBC Missions Council, Bible Study teacher, GA leader, and Prayer Coordinator. She is also a member of the National Prayer Committee, leader of the intercessory prayer-team for Living Proof Alive events held at HFBC and has served on board of director of various non-profit ministries.

Mary Ann is a frequent speaker and prayer consultant, Mary Ann’s passion is guiding others, locally, nationally, and internationally to experience a prayer-life where they walk in the awareness of the presence of a Holy God.

She has partnered with various ministries in cross-denominational citywide prayer gatherings for spiritual awakening and prayer mobilization focusing on nation-wide gatherings throughout the fifty states.

Her writings include Prayers for the Faithful, published by Broadman Holman, as well as Building A House of Prayer, a 10-week Bible Study, and the seven-part devotional, Being Still and Knowing God. Mary Ann has designed various user-friendly prayer tools such as the Consecration Prayer Journal, Personal Consecration Cards and a wide topical range of prayer guides.

Mary Ann and Roger have a close-knit family consisting of two daughters, both of whom are married, Jane Williams, married in ’08 to Wesley Williams, and Kay Altic, married in ’02 to Rev. Jerrell Altic, and a grandson, Jaykob. They frequently serve individually and as a family on short-term local and international mission trips.
